Flight Recommendations:
Plan to arrive into Guatemala City Aurora (code GUA) International airport. From there, please keep in mind that it is still a half day journey to The Eagles Nest, so be sure to arrange a flight to arrive one day prior to the day the training program begins.
IF YOU ARRIVE BEFORE THE TRAINING, YOU HAVE A FEW OPTIONS:
Lake Atitlan is about 3.5 hours from Guatemala City Airport. A month before the training begins, you will receive an email from your lead facilitator with arrival information. At that time, your lead facilitator will answer questions regarding arrival, organize group rides, shared taxis, shuttles, etc. Don’t stress out about this… we’ve helped several hundred people arrive to the lake with safety and ease. The following options are some ideas of how you may like to arrive to the lake.
Option 1: Private, Fast & Easy: You are welcome to arrive early to The Eagles Nest and settle in for as long as you’d like, pending availability. Message Martha’s RelaxiCab on WhatsApp: +502 3073 0413.
Option 2: Colonial, Historical, Delicious: From the airport you may wish to take a shuttle to Antigua, Guatemala, a nice colonial town with lots of tourist activities and great restaurants. Shuttles leave the airport every hour and are easy to reserve on the spot. From Antigua you can continue on to The Eagles Nest via private car ($90us) or take a shuttle to San Marcos La Laguna, which can be organized in any hotel.
Option 3: New Age Fun: San Marcos La Laguna is a vibrant tourist town with lots of new-age spiritual offerings and is just down the hill from The Eagles Nest. You may wish to arrive early and spend some time there. You may arrive in private taxi or via a shuttle from Antigua.
**Arrival Day: You must be at The Eagles Nest by 2pm on the arrival day.
**Departure Day: Schedule your flight out of Guatemala either in the late afternoon/evening (after 5pm) of the last day of the training (private shuttle would be necessary to arrive in time), or stay and explore the incredible sites around the lake. We will finish around 11am on the last day. There are collective shuttles leaving San Marcos each day at 2.30pm for Antigua, arriving around 6pm, spend a nice night or two exploring Antigua and then take a collective shuttle back to the airport for your flight. Your facilitators can help arrange departure transportation during the training. This does not need to be organized before the training begins.

Please check with your consulate regarding your specific country before entering Guatemala. Depending on your nationality you may need a return flight out of the country to be presented at check in for your flight.
Vaccines:
No inoculations are required to enter Guatemala, but it is always best to talk to your doctor and check out the Center for Disease Control website for information about recommended vaccinations.
SAFETy:
Guatemala is a beautiful country, from the people to the culture to the landscapes, offering amazing experiences to any traveler. Safety is as much a consideration here as in any developing country you may visit or in any touristed area where economic disparity exists. If it will be your first time to Guatemala, or you are a concerned traveler, we always recommend private transport for peace of mind. If you arrive after 4pm, we recommend you stay in the city or Antigua and travel the next day.
While traveling and when visiting towns and villages, we advise mindfulness. Don’t flash expensive devices or carry large amounts of cash. Theft tends to be petty and opportunistic. Take care with your valuables and lock them away safely. During your stay, security is provided on the property as well as secure storage for valuables. Avoid walking alone on Sundays and in the evenings whenever possible.
Health:
Our filtered water has been tested by a local authority and is approved for drinking and washing. While we take necessary steps to ensure your drinking water is filtered and food is prepared in a safe and clean manner, we encourage you to take responsibility for your health in Guatemala.
It is common for travelers in Guatemala to suffer from upset stomachs, diarrhea and/or vomiting from exposure to newbacterias. If you do fall sick during your time with us, we have many natural remedies to support you and other options at the local pharmacy. We encourage you to regularly eat papaya seeds, probiotic foods such as kimchi, apple cider vinegar to your water, and Activated Charcoal if you are experiencing symptoms.
HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE AND LIABILITY FORM
This form must be filled out within 7 days of registering for your course. This is required for your attendance.
