A Reason to Listen.
This is it,
The way a lover can
lose themselves in the eye
of their love,
the way time can stop
just
like
that.
The way the pinecone falls and
the leaf leaves the tree to lay itself
down on the ground.
It’s the reason the whale breaches the
oceans surface and the fish jumps out
of the water under nights of soft
moonlight laughing in silence at the absurd
glimpse of a life of air, land and sky.
It’s the reason the bird ever decided to
grow wings and take flight into the
unknowable open heights that sky reveals.
It’s the gift of friendship when no
words need to be spoken and the
same quiet room we enter and sit and seem
to reside for one eternity or another.
The temple bells sound, the conch shells blow.
Time is taking off her clothes and coming to lay down with you.
You do not need a reason to listen.
