This Precious Ground.
The Madness of Mind
So often,
the madness of the mind
would have you believe
in such
wildly
silly
things:
Thinking that you are a fish
who is thirsty or drowning or,
like a ray of sunlight
who is blind and cold or,
a pair of lovers who
feel themselves desperately
separate;
like two eyes
or two rain drops
falling from the same sky—
feeling an impossible distance
as they descend
toward
the
sea.
The mind continues to fool you
into accepting such fantasies.
As if you were a bird fearing the sky;
with wings that never unfurl,
you might actually forget
to sing
aloud.
Or maybe you are like a star
who looks despairingly
into the deep darkness
and thinks of itself
the same in
likeness.
The thoughts can perform all sorts
of wonderful miracles like that.
Standing in front of you and the world
as a mask or costume
that for a brief
flash of a life
you could
overlook
the very
stuff
that
you
are
made
of
.
This Precious Ground
You,
you are at the edge
of a wave
that has been rolling
since before even
time began.
The edge,
not the end.
The wave rolls on and
on and out and
in and you
are now
here…
Come down,
close to the floor.
I know it's dark,
But reach out,
find my hand
and kiss this
precious ground
with me.
Somehow Seamless
I watch and I watch
the fabric carefully
being sewn.
Delicate fingertips wisp
from form to form
and I see it all
woven
as one.
Woven together,
a time and a space
and a life and a breath.
The entire tapestry revealed
in all its elegance and yet...
somehow seamless.
A Fancy Party Trick
I do not know
who turned on the tap,
yet,
in an instant,
out poured the whole
tapestry!
A delicate ambrosia
permeating every being.
Stars strung like ripe fruits across
the canopy of the
cosmos.
Numinous and luminous
I could not help but to have certitude
that the chaos
was all just
a fancy
party
trick.
To teach us that balance
really means to quiver
throughout an
eternity that
has no
center.
